The update provides a clearer snapshot of how quickly applicants can expect decisions as the system continues to adjust capacity. Key gains since June 17 include a record low processing time for in-Canada work permits in 2026 at 144 days, and a seven-week drop for applicants from Nigeria. India and Pakistan saw more modest shifts, with India remaining at nine weeks and Pakistan at five weeks. Country-specific changes for work permits show Canada-based applicants at 144 days (down from 171 days), Nigeria down to nine weeks (from 16 weeks), and the United States remaining at four weeks. India is at nine weeks, Pakistan at five weeks, and the Philippines at eight weeks. Service standards continue to differentiate between submissions made inside and outside Canada: 120 days for in-Canada submissions (initial applications and extensions) and 60 days for submissions made from outside Canada. For study permits, India and Nigeria posted one-week improvements, bringing Canada-based applicants to six weeks, with India at four weeks and Nigeria at five weeks.
