Maple News: Express Entry Pool Turns More Top-Heavy as High-Scoring Profiles Surge

Maple News reports that, between May 24 and June 21, the number of top-scoring Express Entry profiles grew at a pace roughly 4,400% faster than the overall pool. The pool itself rose by 0.33%, while the number of candidates scoring 501 or higher increased by 14.64%.

During the four-week period, the Express Entry pool expanded from 238,847 to 239,645—a net gain of 798 profiles. Growth was most pronounced in the 501–600 CRS range, which rose by about 11.52% and accounted for 8.35% of the total pool.

Beyond the 501–600 band, the top gains occurred in the 601–1200 range (+609 profiles), the 471–480 range (+278), and the 481–490 range (+275). The 601–1200 growth marks a reversal from the previous four weeks (April 26–May 24), when this band declined from 472 to 332.

Overall, several upper-mid CRS bands continued to accumulate, even as other score ranges contracted, signaling ongoing shifts in the pool’s composition as new profiles enter and existing ones rise in rank.

Among the key context pieces, approximately 10% of Express Entry profiles sit in the top-scoring band, while Canadian Experience Class draws typically target the top 1–2% of profiles. With high-scoring profiles expanding more rapidly, competition for invitations could tighten in upcoming rounds.

Implications for applicants: the pool’s tilt toward top-scoring profiles heightens the incentive to optimize CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) factors and pursue strategies that push profiles into higher bands.
