Prince Edward Island Invites 129 Skilled Workers in Targeted PNP Draw

Maple News reports that Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 129 invitations to apply for provincial nomination in its latest draw under the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories, held on September 19, 2025. The Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream did not issue any invitations in this round.

The September draw prioritized candidates aligned with the province’s strategic economic objectives. Key focus was placed on individuals working in sectors deemed high-impact for PEI’s economy. The province also favored candidates already employed by PEI-based companies and international graduates from local institutions, including the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Holland College, and Collège de l’Île.

This draw brings the total number of Labour Impact and Express Entry invitations issued by PEI so far in 2025 to 921. According to Maple News, the province continues its efforts to select highly skilled professionals with strong local connections and long-term settlement potential—factors that contribute to higher retention rates and community development.

The PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) operates through three main pathways: the Labour Impact Category, the Express Entry Category, and the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur Category. Each category targets specific profiles to fulfill local labor market needs and support economic growth through immigration.

The PEI Express Entry stream is aligned with the federal Express Entry system, allowing the province to nominate candidates who meet both federal and provincial eligibility criteria. Individuals nominated by PEI receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, virtually guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residence.

Prospective applicants are advised to keep their immigration profiles up to date, as eligibility factors such as job offers from local employers or graduation from PEI institutions can significantly improve chances of selection in future draws.

As the province continues to refine its selection priorities, candidates interested in working or settling in Prince Edward Island should monitor upcoming draws and ensure they meet the evolving criteria.

The next PEI PNP draw is expected to maintain this targeted approach, focusing on sectors with demonstrated labor shortages and candidates with a high likelihood of staying long-term.

For those looking to build a life in one of Canada’s most welcoming provinces, staying informed and prepared can make all the difference.
