Nova Scotia Introduces 12-Month Validity for Provincial Nominee Profiles

Maple News reports that the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) will implement a fixed validity period for Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles and has published guidance on handling existing profiles.

Effective May 1, 2026, EOIs submitted on or after that date will remain valid for 12 months from the date of submission and then expire.

Once the 12-month window lapses, candidates will be removed from the pool and must submit a new EOI to continue being considered for provincial nomination.

Nova Scotia announced the update on its official website on April 27, 2026.

Previously, EOIs could stay in the pool indefinitely until they were selected.

The change comes five months after Nova Scotia adopted an Expression of Interest intake model to streamline its nomination process.

Transition measures apply to existing EOIs, with the timing depending on when the profile was submitted.

EOIs submitted before May 1, 2024 will be closed on May 1, 2026, and applicants who still meet eligibility will need to submit a new EOI to be considered.
