Maple News reports that Newfoundland and Labrador conducted its fifth provincial immigration draw of 2026 on May 11, marking the province’s second draw in May to date.
A total of 186 candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
Program breakdown shows 168 ITAs issued via the NLPNP and 18 via the AIP. The province does not publish which NLPNP streams were invited or which sectors were targeted, but its Expression of Interest prioritization continues to favor health and health-related occupations due to ongoing shortages.
This latest draw is the lowest invitation count of 2026 thus far and mirrors a broader pattern of declining ITA volumes across draws this year.
Earlier in 2026, Newfoundland and Labrador held draws on May 1 (190 ITAs), April 13 (210), March 30 (245) and March 6 (445).
To date, Newfoundland and Labrador has issued 1,276 invitations through NLPNP and AIP, with about 84.1% of them issued via NLPNP, underscoring the province’s continued emphasis on its provincial pathway to permanent residence to address local labor needs.
