Maple News reports that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has published an updated distribution of candidate scores in the Express Entry pool. The Aug. 3 snapshot shows the pool contracting by more than 2,400 profiles since July 19, even as the 501–600 CRS band increased by just over 1,500 candidates.
Declines were recorded across all CRS ranges up to 470, while growth occurred in most ranges above that level, with the exception of the topmost 601–1,200 band.
Key changes by range (Aug. 3 vs. July 19) include: 0–300 down 153; 301–350 down 389; 351–400 down 1,000; 401–410 down 1,564; 411–420 down 1,134; 421–430 down 19; 431–440 down 170; 441–450 down 85; 451–460 down 34; 461–470 down 29; 471–480 up 249; 481–490 up 275; 491–500 up 59; and 501–600 up 1,572; 601–1,200 down 11. The total pool stood at 229,100 on Aug. 3, compared with 231,533 on July 19—a net decrease of 2,433.
Composition notes: the 501–600 range now accounts for about 8.6% of the pool (19,705 candidates), while the 601–1,200 range holds roughly 0.22% (500 candidates). The lower bands collectively make up the remaining majority of candidates.
Industry watchers will be paying close attention to how these shifts influence future Express Entry draws. A growing presence in the mid-range scores could shape threshold settings if IRCC maintains or adjusts its draw strategy.
