Canada imposes mandatory quarantine for travellers returning from Ebola-affected regions

Maple News reports that Canada will impose mandatory quarantine on travellers who have recently been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan due to an Ebola outbreak.

The quarantine order becomes effective on May 30 at 11:59 p.m. EDT and will remain in place through August 29, 2026.

The government has not released full details of the quarantine protocol, including who must quarantine, the duration, or where the quarantine will occur.

Public health officials say the measure is precautionary, intended to curb potential spread of Ebola as travel resumes.

Maple News will monitor the situation and provide updates as authorities release more information.
