Maple News reports that on June 2, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) conducted a draw inviting in-demand workers and entrepreneurs to apply for provincial nomination. The province issued no fewer than 357 invitations across its streams, including opportunities in construction trades, care-related occupations, and entrepreneurship ventures in the province.
This draw marks BC’s 12th round of selections in 2026, with invitations issued under both the Skills Immigration (SI) and Entrepreneurs Immigration (EI) streams. The SI component accounted for the majority of invitations as BC advances its new immigration priorities announced on April 23, 2026, focused on Care and Build—designed to attract top talent and address critical labor-market needs.
Within Skills Immigration, BC targeted two core objectives: Care and Build. Of the 342 SI invitations, construction trades accounted for about 37.4% of invitations, with the remainder directed toward healthcare and related care services. The breakdown by occupation shows: Education (Care): 1 NOC, 91 invitations, minimum score 111; Health (Care): 31 NOC, 117 invitations, minimum score 100; Veterinary (Care): 2 NOC, 6 invitations, minimum score 92; Construction trades (Build): 9 NOC, 128 invitations, minimum score 101.
These thresholds reflect BC’s emphasis on fields with pronounced labor gaps, particularly in healthcare and skilled trades. The minimum scores range from the low 90s to the low 100s, indicating varying levels of eligibility across occupations.
Beyond Skills Immigration, BC’s Entrepreneur Immigration stream also featured in this draw, underscoring the province’s strategy to foster entrepreneurship and startups as part of its economic growth. Maple News notes that aspiring applicants should monitor BC PNP updates and ensure their profiles align with the province’s targeted priorities to maximize eligibility.
