Maple News reports that on July 10, Newfoundland and Labrador issued 57 invitations to provincial immigration candidates through the NLPNP and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), marking the eighth draw of 2026 and the smallest invitation round of the year.
Invitations were split 17 for the NLPNP and 40 for the AIP, with the AIP accounting for about 70.2% of the total.
This draw was the first since September 2025 in which AIP invitations outpaced NLPNP invitations. No stream-specific or sector-specific breakdown was provided for NLPNP in this round. The province’s Expression of Interest criteria indicate that candidates may be prioritized based on employment in healthcare, sales and service, rural areas, and underrepresented occupations, among other factors.
Looking at the year-to-date trend, invitation counts have fallen in every Newfoundland and Labrador draw in 2026 except for the June 10 round, with the July 10 draw setting a year-low. Past rounds include: March 6 (445 total; NLPNP 362, AIP 83); March 30 (245; NLPNP 209, AIP 36); April 13 (210; NLPNP 177, AIP 33); May 1 (190; NLPNP 157, AIP 33); May 11 (186; NLPNP 168, AIP 18); May 28 (103; NLPNP 84, AIP 19); June 10 (108; NLPNP 89, AIP 19).
As of July 10, Newfoundland and Labrador has invited a total of 1,544 candidates to apply for provincial nomination (NLPNP) or endorsement (AIP) in 2026, with NLPNP representing about 81.8% of invitations. The data underscore the NLPNP’s continued prominence even as the AIP remains a major driver for Atlantic Canada’s labor needs.
