Express Entry Pool Growth Driven by 501–600 CRS Scores, Maple News Reports

Maple News reports that Canada’s Express Entry pool expanded by 4,395 profiles between April 26 and May 24, with the 501–600 CRS score range accounting for 4,085 of those new entries—representing 93% of the net growth and underscoring how competitive the pool has become.

The surge followed Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s 29-day pause in Canadian Experience Class draws—the longest interruption of 2026—during which high-scoring candidates continued to join the pool while no CEC invitations were issued.

During that pause, the 501–600 band swelled from 13,860 profiles to 17,945.

When CEC draws resumed on May 27, IRCC issued 3,000 Invitations to Apply at a CRS cut-off of 518—the highest CEC cut-off of 2026—and with a tie-break date of April 30, 2025.

Over the four weeks, the Express Entry pool rose from 234,452 to 238,847 profiles, and the 501–600 range grew to 7.51% of the total pool.

Other score bands also posted gains, including the 471–480 (+553), 481–490 (+508), and 461–470 (+289) ranges, signaling a broader shift toward upper-mid scores as new applicants enter the system.

Looking ahead, analysts say the concentration of high‑scoring profiles could keep CRS cut-offs elevated in upcoming invitations, influencing candidate strategies and provincial nomination approaches.
