PEI Wraps Up 2025 Immigration Draws with Focus on Skilled Workers and International Graduates

Maple News reports that the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) conducted its final scheduled immigration draw of 2025 on December 15, issuing a total of 166 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination.

This latest draw continued PEI’s strategic focus on candidates contributing to the province’s economy. Key beneficiaries included skilled workers already employed with PEI-based employers and international graduates from designated local post-secondary institutions, namely the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Holland College, and Collège de L’Île.

Applicants received invitations through two main immigration pathways: the Labour Impact category and the PEI Express Entry stream. These categories target individuals equipped with the skills and local experience needed to support the province’s labour market and economic development goals.

According to Maple News, approximately 62% of draws in 2025 followed this same approach—prioritizing in-province talent and recent graduates of PEI’s recognized educational institutions.

This draw is expected to be the last of the year if PEI adheres to its monthly schedule of one draw per month. The province deviated from this schedule only once in 2025, holding a surprise draw on October 27 following an earlier draw on October 17.

In total, the PEI PNP conducted 13 draws throughout the year, issuing 1,596 invitations for provincial nomination. The vast majority of these were through the Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry categories. Only one invitation was extended under the Business Impact Category – Work Permit Stream, further highlighting the province’s focus on bolstering its permanent labour force.

The consistent alignment of PEI’s draws with targeted economic sectors and educational institutions underlines the province’s strategic approach to immigration—one that doubles down on long-term retention, local integration, and workforce stability.
