Ontario Invites 1,680 Skilled and Regional Workers to Apply for Permanent Residency

Maple News reports that the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has issued 1,680 targeted invitations for provincial nomination, prioritizing candidates with job offers in healthcare, early childhood education, and select skilled occupations essential to regional development.

The invitations were issued on October 9, 2025, through two targeted rounds under the Employer Job Offer streams, including streams for Foreign Workers, International Students, and In-Demand Skills. Candidates invited in this draw are currently residing in Canada and were selected from Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles submitted between July 2 and October 9, 2025. All applicants required a valid job offer submitted through Ontario’s newly introduced Employer Portal.

A majority of the invitations—1,590 in total—were issued to individuals working in health-related occupations or as early childhood educators and assistants, aligning with National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes such as family physicians (31102), registered nurses (31301), and early childhood educators (42202). Minimum score thresholds for these invitations ranged from 31 to 56, depending on the OINP stream and the occupation’s demand.

Ontario also extended 90 invitations through its Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot, which is aimed at strengthening smaller communities by attracting skilled newcomers committed to settling in regions outside major urban centers. This REDI initiative plays a strategic role in promoting sustainable population growth and economic vitality in Ontario’s less populated areas.

The draw reflects Ontario’s broader immigration goals to support critical services, such as healthcare and education, while encouraging workforce development in regional communities. Candidates selected will now proceed with submitting their applications for provincial nomination, a step that could lead to permanent residency under the Provincial Nominee Program.

This round of invitations underscores the province’s ongoing commitment to matching immigration pathways with labor market needs and regional economic priorities. As Ontario continues to innovate its immigration programs, international skilled workers and graduates with in-demand qualifications are encouraged to explore opportunities through the OINP.

Those who meet the eligibility criteria and have employer support are well-positioned to benefit from future targeted draws, particularly in priority sectors where demand remains strong across the province.
