Saskatchewan SINP Opens Third Intake Window as Caps Lock in Two Sectors

Maple News reports that Saskatchewan’s Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) opened its third intake window on May 4 for employers sponsoring SINP candidates in capped sectors. The update comes as the province continues to manage its nomination allocations across targeted industries.

As of this writing, Saskatchewan has hit the cap in all restricted sectors except trucking, which still has 28 positions available. The cap dynamics reflect the program’s aim to balance demand with the province’s overall nomination allocation.

Saskatchewan set two intake windows on May 4 corresponding to the three capped sectors: Retail, trade, and other services; Trucking; and Accommodation and food services. Intake windows for trucking and for retail/trade/other services opened at 8:30 a.m. CST (the retail/trade/other services cap was reached), while the accommodation and food services window opened at 12:30 p.m. CST (also reported as cap met).

Under SINP rules, each employer-submitted Enhanced Priorities Agreement (EPA) counts toward the intake window limit, contributing to the first-come, first-served approach.

For the May 4 intake, Saskatchewan established a total of 400 positions. The breakdown is 80 positions for Retail, trade, and other services; 80 for Trucking; and 240 for Accommodation and food services. The March 2 intake used the same 400-position total, with non-trucking sectors hitting their cap within hours, while trucking used about 83.75% of its 80-position allotment.

Maple News notes that these caps are designed to steer nominations toward in-demand sectors while preserving strategic allocation of scarce SINP nominations, allowing the province to target employers’ immediate hiring needs without oversaturating any single sector.
