Maple News reports that Newfoundland and Labrador held its fourth provincial immigration selection round of 2026 on May 1, inviting a total of 190 candidates through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
Invitations were split with 157 going to NLPNP candidates and 33 to AIP candidates.
Unlike some provinces, Newfoundland and Labrador does not publicly publish the specific NLPNP streams associated with the invitations.
This May 1 draw is the province’s smallest so far in 2026.
The round reflects a year-long trend of smaller overall invitation numbers, though the Atlantic Immigration Program has held steady at 33 invites in each of the last two draws.
Context from earlier rounds shows the following: April 13, 2026, saw 210 invitations (NLPNP 177, AIP 33); March 30, 2026, had 245 invitations (NLPNP 209, AIP 36); and March 6, 2026, issued 445 invitations (NLPNP 362, AIP 83).
To date, Newfoundland and Labrador has issued 1,090 invitations through the NLPNP and AIP.
The province’s ongoing intake adjustments align with broader labor-market needs and Atlantic immigration pathways, shaping the hiring prospects for employers and the migration plans of prospective entrants.
