British Columbia Issues 279 High-Economic-Impact Invitations in Latest SI Draw Under Innovate Initiative

Maple News reports that on June 18, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program invited 279 high economic impact candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Invitations were issued through two selection routes: a TEER 0–3 job offer with a wage of at least $62 per hour (about $125,000 per year), and a registration-score pathway with a minimum score of 136.

This draw represents BCPNP’s 13th round of selections in 2026 and the seventh targeting Skills Immigration candidates. The majority of invitations (about 53.4%) were issued based on registration score, rather than the wage-based job offer pathway.

The selections fall under the province’s Innovate initiative, which BC says will issue high economic impact invitations to top talent across all sectors. The province did not publish the specific occupations or sectors of those invited in this round.

Beyond wage and registration score, future invitations may be based on a broader set of SI selection factors, including education level and field, professional designation in the province, length and level of work experience, language ability, occupation, wage/offer level, intended region of residence in the province, and alignment with provincial priorities.

At 279 invitations, this is the smallest Skills Immigration draw BC has conducted in 2026 to date. By comparison, the largest SI draw occurred on April 22, when BC invited 484 candidates. As of June 18, BC has issued 2,764 invitations to apply through its Skills Immigration stream.
