British Columbia Issues 354 Invitations in Latest Provincial Nominee Program Draw

Maple News reports that British Columbia conducted its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on October 27, 2020, issuing a total of 354 invitations to immigration candidates. The invitations were extended through the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration streams, which continue to attract a range of skilled professionals and graduates looking to settle in the province.

Candidates were invited under five specific categories: Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams from both EEBC and Skills Immigration, as well as the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled category under Skills Immigration.

The minimum points required for selection varied by stream. For example, candidates needed at least 93 points under Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker and 94 points for the International Graduate stream. Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled applicants needed only 75 points. Meanwhile, in the Express Entry BC stream, the cut-offs were 92 for Skilled Workers and 93 for International Graduates.

These scores are based on British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which evaluates candidates using factors such as education, work experience, English language ability, and job location within the province.

Individuals hoping to immigrate through the BC PNP must first create a profile through the province’s online portal and register under SIRS. Once invited and approved for a provincial nomination, candidates can then apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Importantly, Express Entry candidates who receive a nomination from British Columbia are awarded an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly increasing their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence through the federal Express Entry system.

British Columbia continues to hold these draws on a near-weekly basis, with the largest draw of the year so far taking place on September 29, when 450 candidates were invited.

This continued activity underlines B.C.’s commitment to welcoming skilled immigrants who can contribute to the province’s growing economy and labor market needs.
