Maple News reports that Saskatchewan has released the results of two recent rounds of invitations under its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), targeting candidates through both the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams.
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held draws on October 7 and October 21, 2020. These rounds reflect the province’s ongoing commitment to attracting skilled workers who can help strengthen its labor market and support regional growth.
In the October 21 draw, a total of 618 candidates received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. Of these, 340 were invited under the Express Entry category, where the minimum required score was 69. The remaining 278 invitations were issued through the Occupations In-Demand category, with a higher cutoff score of 78.
Earlier in the month, on October 7, SINP invited another 455 candidates from the Express Entry pool. To qualify for that draw, candidates needed to have scored at least 70 points.
Combined, these two draws amount to 1,073 new invitations distributed across key immigration streams, highlighting Saskatchewan’s proactive selection strategy.
With these latest results, the province has extended a total of 3,040 invitations through its Express Entry stream and 3,018 through the Occupations In-Demand stream so far in 2020. These figures reinforce Saskatchewan’s position as one of Canada’s most active provinces when it comes to nominating skilled foreign talent.
The SINP plays a crucial role in helping the province fill labor shortages by selecting candidates who not only meet federal immigration requirements but also align with Saskatchewan’s specific economic and demographic needs. The program continues to evolve and adapt in response to labor market changes.
Candidates who receive a nomination through SINP’s Express Entry or Occupations In-Demand pathways gain a significant advantage when applying for permanent residence, as a nomination adds 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
Maple News will continue to monitor Saskatchewan’s immigration trends and policy updates as the province advances its PNP strategy in the coming months.
