Nova Scotia Targets Tech Talent in Latest PNP Draw

Maple News reports that Nova Scotia has issued new invitations to apply for provincial nomination through its Labour Market Priorities Stream, targeting skilled tech professionals. The invitations, which were sent out on October 22, focused on Express Entry candidates whose primary occupation is classified under NOC 2174 – computer programmers and interactive media developers.

To qualify, invited applicants must have at least three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in programming or media development within the last five years. Candidates are also required to provide employer reference letters confirming their work history.

In addition to occupation-specific experience, eligible candidates must have completed a minimum of one year of Canadian work experience in any occupation that falls under the federal skill level categories O, A, or B. This ensures that selected candidates are not only technically skilled but also familiar with Canada’s work culture and standards.

Candidates must meet Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 in all English language abilities, reaffirming the emphasis on strong communication skills for successful integration into Nova Scotia’s labor force. Educational requirements include either a bachelor’s degree or a post-secondary credential of at least three years. If the education was completed outside of Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report must be included.

All applications must be submitted before the deadline of 11:59 p.m. on November 21, 2020. Applicants must include copies of their language test results and proof of educational qualifications as part of their submission.

This draw reflects Nova Scotia’s continued focus on aligning its immigration strategy with pressing labor market demands. Earlier this year, the province invited Express Entry candidates with occupational backgrounds in nursing and the automotive industry, showing a pattern of demand-driven selection.

To be eligible for consideration under this stream, candidates must already have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool. The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) utilizes the Labour Market Priorities Stream to selectively invite candidates whose skills align with current economic and workforce needs in the province.

Maple News will continue to monitor provincial nomination updates to keep you informed about opportunities across Canada’s diverse migration streams.
