Maple News reports that the latest IRCC processing-time update, released July 7, shows increased wait times across nearly all temporary residence categories. The update highlights longer timelines for work permits from several countries and a notable rise in super-visa processing times, while a handful of categories softened slightly.
Work permits: For applications from Canada, the current processing time is 127 days, roughly unchanged from 129 days previously; India remains at 9 weeks; Pakistan climbs to 6 weeks from 5; Nigeria jumps to 11 weeks from 8; the United States stays at 4 weeks; Philippines falls to 7 weeks from 8.
Super visas rose across the board, with Pakistan recording the most pronounced jump: about two-and-a-half months in a single week.
In contrast, some categories showed improvements: work-permit processing for in-Canada submissions declined by two days, and Philippines-based applicants saw a full-week decrease. Visitor visa wait times edged down by 1–4 days.
Study permit processing times stayed essentially flat across the listed countries. Service standards remain: 120 days for in-Canada submissions (initials and extensions) and 60 days for submissions from outside Canada.
Overall, the July 7 update underscores ongoing volatility in temporary-residence timelines. Applicants should factor potential delays into planning and seek current guidance as timelines can shift from week to week.
