Maple News reports that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated its processing-time estimates on June 17 for several temporary residence categories, with some applicants seeing shorter wait times. The update compares current estimates with those from June 10 across work permits, study permits, visitor visas and super visas.
Work permits saw notable improvement in overall timelines. Current estimates place Canada-based applications at 171 days, down from 186 days previously. Country-specific times include India at 9 weeks, Pakistan at 5 weeks, Nigeria at 16 weeks, the United States at 4 weeks, and the Philippines at 8 weeks. Service standards remain 120 days for in-Canada submissions (initial and extensions) and 60 days for applications filed outside Canada.
Among the country-level changes, Pakistan and Nigeria posted reductions compared with the prior update (Pakistan 5 weeks from 6 weeks; Nigeria 16 weeks from 17 weeks), while India and the United States held steady at 9 weeks and 4 weeks respectively. The Philippines remained at 8 weeks.
Study permits did not change in this update, with wait times staying within a four- to six-week band across monitored countries (Canada 6 weeks; India 5 weeks; Pakistan 6 weeks; Nigeria 6 weeks; United States 5 weeks; Philippines 4 weeks).
Visitor visa wait times improved modestly for some applicants, notably from India and the Philippines, while super visa wait times rose across the board. The largest increases were observed for Pakistan (about 11 days) and the United States (about 7 days).
The June 10–June 17 window captures the latest weekly snapshot of processing times. IRCC cautions that individual case circumstances and consular processing can affect actual timelines. Maple News will continue to monitor IRCC updates and publish clarifications as they are released.
