Maple News reports that Newfoundland and Labrador issued its sixth provincial immigration draw of 2026 on May 28, inviting 103 candidates to apply for nomination under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) or for endorsement under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
In this round, NLPNP issued 84 invitations and AIP issued 19, with NLPNP accounting for 81.6% of all invitations. The NLPNP is the province’s primary pathway for nominating skilled workers, while the AIP supports employers across the Atlantic region in attracting international talent.
The province does not publicly disclose which NLPNP streams or occupations were targeted in this draw.
This was the smallest draw of 2026 to date, continuing a downward trend in invitation numbers. May has now seen three invitation rounds, yielding the year’s highest monthly total so far despite the modest size of the single draw.
As of May 28, Newfoundland and Labrador has invited a total of 1,379 provincial nominees or AIP endorsements in 2026. Earlier draws this year included 445 (March 6), 245 (March 30), 210 (April 13), 190 (May 1), and 186 (May 11). The ongoing pattern reflects the province’s ongoing effort to address local labour needs in sectors such as healthcare, fisheries, and technology. Maple News will continue to monitor how these streams adapt to labour market conditions.
