British Columbia launches limited-time pathway to permanent residence for health authority cleaners and security staff

Maple News reports that British Columbia’s Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is launching a one-time pathway to permanent residence aimed at health authority support staff in cleaning and security roles. The initiative opens in June 2026 and will be administered through the BC PNP’s expression of interest system, with capacity for up to 250 nominees.

The program targets workers already employed by a BC health authority in a cleaning or security position in rural or remote communities.

Unlike the BC PNP’s Health Authority stream, which focuses on credentialed healthcare professionals (dentists, pharmacists, psychologists, opticians and nurses), this targeted pathway recognizes the essential contribution of frontline support staff in keeping regional health facilities functioning.

Details on eligibility, timelines, and program criteria will be released prior to the intake opening. Interested workers should monitor BC PNP communications for updates and prepare documentation confirming their employment with a BC health authority in a cleaning or security role, and their work location.

This limited-time initiative sits within the BC PNP’s broader “Care” priority, part of the province’s strategy to strengthen healthcare and related services while supporting regional infrastructure projects. It also aligns with BC’s goal of directing at least 35% of nominations to candidates working outside Metro Vancouver to support population and economic growth in regional communities.

Maple News will continue to track developments and share practical guidance for eligible applicants as more information becomes available.
