Maple News reports that the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted its first immigration draw of April on April 9, inviting candidates through both Skilled Worker streams. Several invitations were issued to individuals explicitly invited by MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative.
Manitoba issued 32 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in this draw, the first of the month. LAAs were issued across the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways.
The largest share went to candidates invited under Employer Services (10 LAAs, about 31%). Other initiatives included Francophone Community (7), Ethnocultural Communities (5), Regional Communities (5), and a Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective PNP Candidates (TPP) (5).
Eight LAAs went to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.
In comparison, the March 12 draw invited 46 candidates, meaning Manitoba issued about 30% fewer LAAs in this round. Year-to-date LAAs total 281 in 2026.
The breakdown underscores Manitoba’s continued reliance on employer-driven recruitment while highlighting targeted outreach to Francophone and ethnocultural communities. For prospective applicants, staying aligned with the province’s Skilled Worker streams and monitoring recruitment initiatives can help with eligibility as Manitoba pursues targeted immigration outcomes. Maple News will continue to cover Manitoba’s PNP activity.
