Maple News reports that on December 16, 2025, British Columbia conducted a new round of invitations under its Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) streams, extending opportunities to innovative business leaders looking to invest and establish themselves in the province.
Through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), a total of up to 21 invitations were sent out under two distinct pathways: the EI Base Stream and the EI Regional Stream. These streams are part of the province’s strategy to attract experienced international entrepreneurs who can drive local economic growth and innovation.
In this latest draw, the majority of invitations—17—were issued through the EI Base Stream, which is designed for entrepreneurs planning to establish themselves in larger population centers of British Columbia. The minimum score required in this category was 115, making it one of the highest-scoring rounds of 2025.
Fewer than five candidates received invitations under the EI Regional Stream, which focuses on encouraging investment and entrepreneurship in smaller communities throughout British Columbia. The minimum qualifying score for this stream was 107.
The December round marks the second-largest Entrepreneur Immigration draw in the province for 2025. It also ranks as the second-highest draw of the year in terms of invitations issued through the Base Stream, underscoring the province’s ongoing interest in seasoned entrepreneurs.
Applicants under the Entrepreneur Immigration category must meet various criteria, including a minimum net worth, investment thresholds, and active managerial involvement in the business. While the two streams share a common purpose, each has distinct eligibility requirements reflecting the unique needs of urban vs. regional economic development.
The EI Base Stream targets entrepreneurs ready to settle in metropolitan areas and make substantial investments, while the EI Regional Stream is tailored to individuals willing to support the economic vitality of smaller communities across the province.
British Columbia remains a top destination for global business talent, offering a stable economy and a supportive ecosystem for growth. Through the EI program, the province continues to align immigration with its economic priorities by bringing in qualified entrepreneurs who can create jobs and contribute to the prosperity of local communities.
