Alberta Issues Over 1,100 Invitations in October Immigration Draws Across Key Sectors

Maple News reports that the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held four separate immigration draws in the final week of October, extending invitations to a total of 1,112 candidates across multiple immigration streams. These draws reflect Alberta’s targeted efforts to address labour shortages in high-priority sectors such as healthcare, law enforcement, construction, and general occupations within the province.

The draws, carried out between October 23 and October 29, 2025, show a strategic focus on attracting skilled individuals already working in Alberta or those with eligible job offers. The largest share of invitations—900 out of 1,112—was issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream. This stream supports temporary foreign workers employed in Alberta who have a valid, full-time job offer from a qualifying local employer.

Another significant draw took place on October 24 through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway (non-Express Entry), where 142 candidates were invited with a minimum score of 42. This pathway focuses on professionals working in key healthcare occupations, helping to alleviate pressures on Alberta’s healthcare system.

On October 28, the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Construction) invited 60 candidates with a minimum score of 60. These candidates listed an eligible construction occupation as their primary profession in their Express Entry profile—highlighting the province’s drive to support major infrastructure and housing projects.

A much smaller, focused draw on October 29 targeted candidates under the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway, inviting fewer than 10 individuals with a minimum score of 46. This pathway is designed for professionals in policing and was created in collaboration with members of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police.

Alberta’s ability to issue these invitations is tied to its federal allocation of provincial nominations. In January 2025, Alberta received 4,875 nomination slots, which were subsequently increased in September to 6,603 to meet growing labour market needs. As of now, the province has utilized 5,137 nominations, with 1,466 remaining for the year.

These draws demonstrate Alberta’s tailored immigration strategy, prioritizing candidates who are able to quickly integrate into the workforce and fill vacancies in vital industries. By aligning immigration with real-time labour market demands, Alberta continues to position itself as a proactive participant in Canada’s overall economic immigration landscape.
