Maple News reports that on August 29, 2025, Newfoundland and Labrador extended 202 invitations to apply (ITAs) for provincial immigration under two key programs — the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
According to the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM), 125 invitations were issued under the NLPNP, while the remaining 77 were granted to candidates through the AIP. These programs enable skilled workers with job offers in the province to apply for permanent residency.
The August 29 draw is part of an ongoing pattern of bi-monthly invitation rounds. Recent draw data shows consistent activity, with 150 invitations on July 29 (100 for NLPNP and 50 for AIP), and 231 on August 13 (180 NLPNP, 51 AIP).
While the provincial government has not disclosed the specific NLPNP streams in use, the program typically targets workers aligned with Newfoundland and Labrador’s labour market demands. Selected candidates receive ITAs via email and can proceed to submit full applications through their Immigration Accelerator portal.
To be eligible for either the NLPNP or AIP, individuals must have a valid job or job offer from an employer based in Newfoundland and Labrador. Additionally, an Expression of Interest (EOI) that reflects the province’s workforce priorities significantly increases the likelihood of receiving an invitation.
This strategy reflects the province’s commitment to addressing labour shortages and driving economic growth through targeted immigration. Since May, Newfoundland and Labrador has prioritized immigrants who can readily integrate into the local job market — particularly in high-demand sectors such as healthcare, tech, and skilled trades.
For prospective immigrants, this marks a continued opportunity to secure permanent residence through region-specific pathways focused on matching skills with local needs.
As one of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces, Newfoundland and Labrador plays a growing role in Canada’s broader regional immigration strategy. Through the NLPNP and AIP, the province supports newcomers in building stable careers and meaningful lives in smaller communities, helping spur demographic and economic resilience.
Maple News will continue to monitor upcoming draws and policy updates related to provincial nominee programs and regional immigration initiatives across Canada.
