Prince Edward Island Targets Skilled Workers and Graduates in August PNP Draw

In its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on August 21, 2025, Prince Edward Island issued 132 invitations to candidates seeking permanent residency, Maple News reports.

All invitations were extended under the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams. Notably, no candidates were selected through the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur Category in this round.

According to the PEI Office of Immigration, priority was given to applicants employed in high-demand sectors crucial to the province’s economic development. The draw specifically focused on individuals currently working for a PEI employer and international graduates from local institutions including the University of Prince Edward Island, Holland College, and Collège de l’Île.

This draw is part of the province’s ongoing efforts to align immigration with labour market demands. By targeting skilled workers and recent graduates already contributing to the local economy, the PEI PNP aims to build a more sustainable and resilient workforce.

The PEI PNP issues regular invitations through three main categories: Labour Impact, Express Entry, and the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream. The Express Entry stream is aligned with the federal immigration system, allowing PEI to nominate candidates who meet provincial criteria and are more likely to settle successfully.

While this draw did not specify a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, PEI has continued to emphasize the importance of retaining talent trained or employed within the province. This strategy enhances long-term economic retention and benefits local communities.

Candidates interested in immigrating to Prince Edward Island are advised to keep their profiles updated and ensure they meet eligibility criteria for future consideration. Participating in provincial nomination programs can significantly boost an applicant’s chances of receiving an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Maple News will continue to monitor and report on future updates to PEI’s immigration programs and broader provincial nominee developments across Canada.
