Newfoundland and Labrador Issues 231 Invitations in Latest Immigration Draw

On August 13, Newfoundland and Labrador conducted a new round of immigration invitations, extending opportunities to skilled workers under two key streams: the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), Maple News reports.

A total of 231 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism. Of these, 180 ITAs were granted through the NLPNP, while 51 were allocated through the AIP. This marks another step in the province’s effort to attract and retain international talent to support its workforce and economic growth.

In 2025 so far, Newfoundland and Labrador has issued 1,675 invitations through the NLPNP and 374 via the AIP. These figures signal strong momentum despite earlier challenges in program allocations.

Originally, the province’s allocation for the Provincial Nominee Program was sharply cut from 2,100 to 1,050 spots for 2025. However, in a strategic move, the province successfully negotiated an additional 1,000 nomination spaces in February, raising the year’s PNP total to 2,050.

The AIP’s allocation for 2025 remains steady at 475. With the recent draw, Newfoundland and Labrador now has 375 spots left in its PNP and 101 under the AIP for the remainder of the year.

These draws are part of the province’s broader strategy to address labor shortages and population challenges, particularly in remote and coastal communities where skilled workers are needed to support healthcare, technology, infrastructure, and more.

According to Maple News, the province continues to leverage both the NLPNP and AIP to bring in skilled newcomers who can settle in Newfoundland and Labrador long term, making vital contributions to its cultural and economic fabric.
