Prince Edward Island Targets Skilled Workers and Entrepreneurs in Latest PNP Draw

Maple News reports that Prince Edward Island has conducted its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on June 19, 2025, extending 52 invitations to eligible immigration candidates seeking to settle and contribute to the province’s economy.

According to the PEI Office of Immigration, the draw focused on attracting individuals who align with the province’s labour market needs and economic priorities. One invitation was issued under the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream to a candidate who met or exceeded a minimum score of 150 points, highlighting the selective nature of the business category.

The bulk of the selections—51 invitations—were issued through the Labour and Express Entry stream. These candidates are typically in high-demand sectors within Prince Edward Island, such as healthcare, trades, and information technology. By targeting these areas, the province is reinforcing its strategy to close skills gaps and support economic growth.

So far in 2025, PEI’s PNP has issued a total of 52 invitations, all from this most recent round. While modest in number, each draw is part of a larger provincial effort to attract talent with the intention of long-term settlement and workforce stability.

The Labour and Express Entry category within PEI’s PNP supports candidates already working in the province or those eligible through Canada’s federal Express Entry system. These applicants often hold employer-backed job offers, which strengthens their likelihood of successful integration.

The Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream, on the other hand, targets individuals with the experience and financial capacity to establish or purchase a business in PEI. The solo invitation in this category signals a continued but measured approach toward entrepreneurial migration.

This draw demonstrates PEI’s ongoing dedication to a strategic immigration model that prioritizes those who can make a meaningful, long-term contribution to the island’s economy and communities.

Future PNP draws in the province are expected to follow a similar pattern, spotlighting critical occupations and aligning with provincial development goals.

Maple News will continue to monitor and report on nominee program updates across Canada’s provinces as they unfold.
