Newfoundland and Labrador Ramps Up Immigration Efforts with 405 Invitations in Latest Draw

Maple News reports that Newfoundland and Labrador continues to build momentum in its 2025 immigration efforts, issuing 405 invitations in the latest round under its Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Held on May 29, this marks the province’s third invitation round since adopting the EOI framework earlier this year.

The latest draw targeted candidates under two key immigration streams: the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). Of the total 405 invitations issued, 351 were allocated through the NLPNP and 54 through the AIP. This draw marks the highest number of invitations issued in a single round so far in 2025.

These figures represent a steady increase over previous rounds, with 328 invitations sent on May 8 and 256 on April 3. This upward trend signals a strong commitment by the Atlantic province to attract more skilled newcomers to support its labor market and economic growth.

To date, Newfoundland and Labrador has extended 838 invitations through the NLPNP and 151 through the AIP since the beginning of 2025. The province has already used over 39% of its total annual allocation of 2,525 nomination slots — a number it successfully negotiated to increase by 1,000 after an earlier reduction by the federal government.

The EOI system, implemented in February 2025, allows individuals interested in immigrating to Newfoundland and Labrador to self-declare their qualifications and interest in provincial residency. From this pool, the province invites candidates best suited to meet local labor market demands.

Through a combination of strategic recruitment and expanded nomination capacity, Newfoundland and Labrador is steadily positioning itself as one of Canada’s most proactive regions in attracting global talent.

As draws continue throughout the year, prospective immigrants are encouraged to monitor program updates and ensure their EOI profiles remain accurate and competitive.
