Manitoba Targets Global Talent with New Skilled Worker Invitations

Maple News reports that Manitoba has once again reached out to skilled foreign professionals with in-demand expertise, inviting them to apply for a provincial nomination as part of its ongoing efforts to address labor shortages. In its latest draw held on May 29, 2024, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued 30 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream.

To be eligible for this round, candidates needed a minimum score of 606 based on the MPNP’s internal ranking system. In addition, they had to be identified through Manitoba’s strategic recruitment initiatives—targeted efforts that allow local employers to connect with international talent and address specific human resource needs in the province.

Strategic recruitment initiatives are employer-led programs that bridge the gap between Manitoba’s labor market demands and skilled international workers. Candidates selected through these initiatives often gain an edge in the immigration process, as the province supports their pathway toward Canadian permanent residency.

Of the 30 LAAs extended, five were issued to applicants actively registered in Canada’s Express Entry system, complete with a valid job seeker validation code. This integration offers qualified candidates a dual route to immigration, increasing both their visibility and chances of receiving an invitation.

MPNP clarified that some eligible candidates may not have received an invitation despite higher scores due to missing or outdated information, such as incorrect language test identification numbers or invalid strategic initiative invitation codes. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation remains critical for success in future draws.

By focusing on strategic recruitment, Manitoba is reinforcing its commitment to attract skilled professionals who can contribute immediately to the province’s workforce, particularly in sectors experiencing chronic shortages. The initiative also supports Canada’s broader immigration objectives by easing the path to permanent residency for high-potential global talent.

Maple News continues to track provincial nominee programs across Canada, offering in-depth coverage and insights on the evolving immigration landscape. As Manitoba and other provinces intensify their search for skilled professionals abroad, candidates are encouraged to keep their profiles current and explore employer-driven pathways for faster, more targeted immigration.
