Newfoundland and Labrador Launches EOI System with First Invitations; New Brunswick Holds Targeted Draws

Maple News reports that Newfoundland and Labrador has officially issued its first round of invitations through its newly introduced Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The digital platform, launched in February 2025, marks a significant step for the province in streamlining immigration under provincial and regional programs.

On April 3, the provincial government invited a total of 256 candidates through both the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). A breakdown shows that 206 invitations were issued through the NLPNP, while another 50 were extended under the AIP.

The invitations prioritized individuals with full-time job offers in high-demand sectors, particularly those already residing in the province or with employment opportunities in rural and remote communities. This aligns with Newfoundland and Labrador’s broader strategic goals of addressing local labor market needs and supporting regional economic development.

Candidates invited under the NLPNP can now apply for a provincial nomination, which enhances their chances of obtaining permanent residency. Those selected through the AIP are eligible to move forward with obtaining endorsements, a key step in finalizing their immigration process.

Meanwhile, Maple News also confirms that the province of New Brunswick has conducted multiple immigration draws this period. These draws targeted specific in-demand occupations, continuing the province’s trend of selecting skilled foreign workers to meet regional employment gaps.

Together, these developments signal active and evolving engagement from Atlantic Canada in attracting and retaining global talent. With new systems like the EOI platform, provinces are becoming more efficient and strategic in managing immigration intake and supporting local economies.

As both Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick ramp up their immigration activities, potential applicants are encouraged to monitor program updates and ensure their profiles align with current labor market priorities.
