British Columbia, Quebec, and Manitoba Invite Immigration Candidates in New Provincial Draws

Maple News reports that three Canadian provinces—British Columbia, Quebec, and Manitoba—have issued new invitations to immigration candidates as part of their latest provincial selection rounds held between June 1 and June 7.

In British Columbia, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on June 4 resulted in 68 invitations across four separate, targeted rounds. These covered the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, including the Express Entry BC pathway. Notably, 33 invitations were allocated to candidates in tech-related occupations, reflecting the province’s ongoing demand for skilled technology professionals. These tech candidates also required the highest minimum score of 122 to be selected.

Other targeted streams included healthcare, childcare, and veterinary care occupations, underscoring British Columbia’s efforts to address sector-specific labor shortages through its immigration strategy.

Meanwhile, the province of Manitoba also conducted a draw under its own PNP, continuing its commitment to selecting candidates likely to settle and thrive in local communities across urban and rural areas. Manitoba’s draws generally focus on skilled workers already in the province, international graduates, and candidates expressing strong intent to reside in the region. While the full details of Manitoba’s latest draw have not been released, previous draws have typically included invitations under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, International Education Stream, and Skilled Workers Overseas categories.

Quebec, which operates its immigration system independently of the federal PNP framework due to a special agreement with the Canadian government, also issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) during the same period. The province uses a separate selection system where candidates receive a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ), allowing them to apply directly for permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Quebec’s unique autonomy allows it to maintain control over the economic immigration candidates best suited to its labor force needs and linguistic profile.

Across Canada, Provincial Nominee Programs remain a critical tool to help provinces attract talent aligned with their specific economic goals. Immigration is a shared jurisdiction between federal and provincial governments, with each province allocated a limited number of nominations annually. Successfully nominated individuals receive a significant advantage when applying for permanent residence through IRCC.

Maple News will continue to track draws and policy shifts across Canada’s immigration landscape as provinces strive to meet workforce demands through targeted immigration approaches.
