Maple News reports that the Province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) held its scheduled Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on September 16, inviting 143 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
The majority of invitations—129 out of 143—were extended to candidates under the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. These streams target skilled workers who can contribute to PEI’s labour market needs. The remaining 14 invitations went to candidates under the Business Impact category, provided they had a minimum provincial score of 72 points.
This was PEI’s ninth draw of 2021, bringing the total number of invitations issued through the PEI PNP this year to 1,337. These consistent monthly draws demonstrate the province’s continued commitment to attracting skilled immigrants who can support regional economic growth.
The Express Entry stream under the PEI PNP is aligned with the federal Express Entry system, which manages applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates within this system are assessed using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which scores applicants based on factors such as age, work experience, education, and language proficiency.
Receiving a provincial nomination from PEI gives Express Entry candidates an additional 600 CRS points, virtually guaranteeing them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency in a future federal draw.
The Labour Impact category caters to individuals with a valid job offer in PEI and relevant work experience. Meanwhile, the Business Impact stream focuses on immigrants planning to invest in and actively manage a business in the province.
According to Maple News, PEI continues to use its PNP to address specific economic and demographic needs. The next PEI PNP draw is scheduled for October 21, 2021, offering another opportunity for interested candidates to secure their pathway to Canadian permanent residence through the picturesque maritime province.
