Maple News reports that Manitoba has issued a total of 335 invitations to immigration candidates in its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held on March 25, 2024. These invitations, officially known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), give recipients a significant advantage in their path toward obtaining Canadian permanent residency.
This recent draw saw candidates selected from three key streams under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP): Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education Stream.
The breakdown of the invitations is as follows:
– 285 LAAs went to candidates under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, who required a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 423.
– 9 LAAs were issued under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, where the minimum EOI score was considerably higher at 711.
– 41 LAAs were awarded through the International Education Stream, which does not require an EOI score.
Notably, 49 invitations from this draw were issued to candidates who had also submitted profiles through Canada’s Express Entry system. A provincial nomination significantly boosts an applicant’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, virtually guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residency in a future federal draw.
Manitoba uses the Expression of Interest system to manage candidate selection for its Skilled Worker streams. Candidates are scored out of 1,000 points based on factors such as work experience, education, language proficiency, and ties to Manitoba, including previous employment or family connections.
The MPNP plays a vital role in aligning immigration with Manitoba’s economic and labour needs. While Canadian provinces cannot issue permanent residency directly, a provincial nomination supports an applicant’s case at the federal level.
For candidates living abroad, eligibility under the Skilled Workers Overseas category requires strong connections to Manitoba, whether through relatives, past Manitoba experience, or a formal invitation from the province through its Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. The program is open to both local and international applicants who meet these qualifications.
Maple News will continue to monitor provincial nominee developments and provide the latest updates on immigration opportunities across Canada.
