September 2025 CRA Benefit Payment Dates: What Canadians Need to Know

Maple News reports that the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has confirmed key benefit payment dates for September 2025, providing essential financial updates for residents, especially newcomers navigating Canada’s social support system.

Families receiving the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) can expect their next payment on September 19, 2025. The CCB offers monthly, tax-free payments to eligible families with children under 18 years of age. These payments may also include associated provincial or territorial child benefit amounts, depending on your place of residence.

For Ontario residents, the Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) will be disbursed on September 10, 2025. This benefit combines three provincial credits: the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit, and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit. It provides financial assistance to cover energy costs and property-related expenses.

It’s important to note that several other federal programs will not issue payments in September. These include the Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB), Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR), Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB), and the GST/HST credit. The next scheduled payment dates for these benefits start in October or November 2025.

The final payment of the Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) began on April 22, 2025. Only individuals who submitted their 2024 income tax returns electronically by April 2 were eligible for the on-time deposit. Those who filed later will receive the rebate once their return has been processed.

For individuals impacted by natural disasters such as wildfires, the CRA provides special assistance. This includes flexible tax filing options and maintaining access to important benefit payments during times of disruption. Affected individuals are encouraged to visit the CRA’s official disaster support services for further guidance.

Additionally, residents are advised to register for direct deposit in their CRA My Account, especially amid a potential Canada Post strike. Direct deposit ensures timely access to benefits without relying on mail delivery, which may face disruption due to ongoing labour negotiations.

By staying informed of benefit payment schedules and registering for electronic deposits, Canadians across the country — especially newcomers adjusting to life in Canada — can better manage household budgets and avoid unnecessary delays.

Maple News will continue to provide timely updates on CRA announcements and social support changes throughout the year.
