RCIP 2026: BC Regions Map Priority Jobs for Permanent Residency Pathways

Maple News reports that British Columbia’s Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) regions have unveiled their 2026 priority sectors and occupations, outlining the job-focused path to permanent residence for foreign workers whose offers align with local labor needs.

The RCIP regions participating in BC are North Okanagan-Shuswap, Peace Liard, and West Kootenay. Each region has released the sectors and specific occupations it will prioritize in 2026, reflecting local workforce gaps and economic goals.

North Okanagan-Shuswap, situated in the southern interior of BC, is prioritizing the following sectors in 2026: Health; Education, Law and Social, Community and Government Services; Sales and Service; Trades, Transport and Equipment Operators; Manufacturing and Utilities; and Business, Finance and Administration. The region’s 2026 priorities are largely consistent with last year, with the notable addition of the Business, Finance and Administration sector.

Eligible priority occupations for North Okanagan-Shuswap include a spectrum of roles across finance, construction, health, hospitality, manufacturing, and transportation. Examples encompass Accounting and Related Clerks (NOC 14200), Accounting Technicians and Bookkeepers (NOC 12200), Administrative Officers (NOC 13100), Bakers (63202), Automotive Service Technicians, Truck and Bus Mechanics and Mechanical Repairers (7241), Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Clerks (14201), Carpenters (72310), Construction Trades Helpers (75110), Dental Assistants and Dental Laboratory Assistants (33100), Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (42202), Executive Housekeepers (62021), Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics (72402), Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers (21321), Legal Administrative Assistants (13111), Light Duty Cleaners (65310), Manufacturing Managers (90010), Medical Laboratory Assistants and Related Technical Occupations (33101), Nurse Aides, Orderlies and Patient Service Associates (33102), Pharmacy Technicians (32124), Plastic Products Assemblers, Finishers and Inspectors (94212), Process Control and Machine Operators (Food and Beverage Processing) (94140), Restaurant and Food Service Managers (60030), Retail Sales Supervisors (62010), Social and Community Service Workers (42201), and Transport Truck Drivers (73300).

Notes: Some priority occupations require a degree in business or public administration to be considered. Applications for assistant roles are not accepted.

In terms of wages and eligibility, applicants must be offered a minimum wage of at least $22 per hour, with the wage range for priority occupations generally spanning from $22 to $35.54 per hour.
