Maple News reports that the Quebec government has launched an upgraded feature in its Employer Portal, designed to streamline the recruitment of immigrant workers both within the province and internationally. The announcement was made on November 5 by Quebec’s Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration, Nadine Girault.
The new functionality, accessible through the province’s Arrima system, allows registered businesses to efficiently browse immigration candidate profiles, extend job offers, and kickstart the hiring and immigration process. This targeted tool is aimed at aligning employer needs with skilled immigration talent, addressing ongoing labour market shortages across Quebec.
Employers listed in the Registraire des Entreprises Québec can now directly search for and connect with various talent pools, including immigrants already residing in the province, international graduates with post-graduate work permits from Quebec institutions, and qualified foreign workers—whether temporary or permanent.
According to the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI), the portal offers a user-friendly interface that lets employers filter candidates through real-time search criteria, save and download results, and shortlist top candidates for follow-up. By digitizing this process, the government aims to reduce hiring friction and help employers fill positions more quickly.
A key benefit of the new portal is access to personalized support for eligible employers. Once a match is made between an employer and a candidate, the business can receive expert guidance from MIFI advisors, located in all of Quebec’s administrative regions. These advisors assist in selecting appropriate immigration programs and navigating the application process step by step.
The Employer Portal itself isn’t new—it has been operational since June 2019. However, with the updated functionality launched in November 2020, employers can now conduct talent searches independently without needing to rely solely on ministry advisors. This marks a shift toward a more decentralized, employer-driven immigration strategy.
To begin using the service, employers must first create a profile on Arrima, Quebec’s online Expression of Interest platform. After requesting support through the portal, companies are contacted by a ministry advisor within five business days. Upon approval, they gain access to independent search capabilities and candidate communications tools within the system.
Maple News notes that this development reflects Quebec’s continued efforts to modernize its immigration framework and support local businesses in finding the right talent to meet workforce demands.
