Maple News reports that on February 23, Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI) conducted an immigration draw across all four streams of the Skilled Worker Selection Program (PSTQ).
With the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) closed, the PSTQ has become the province’s main pathway for skilled workers seeking permanent residence in Quebec.
In the year’s second PSTQ draw, Quebec issued 2,573 invitations to foreign workers across four streams: Highly Qualified and Specialized Skills; Intermediate and Manual Skills; Regulated Professions; and Exceptional Talents.
Within Stream One, the Highly Qualified and Specialized Skills stream, a total of 901 invitations were issued across three selections for workers occupying TEER 0, 1, or 2 positions and who hold a Quebec diploma and 12 months of work experience.
Selection One – Quebec diploma, at least 900 hours of total length or 30 credits: 254 invitations. Selection Two – Quebec diploma plus priority occupations: 419 invitations. Selection Three – Quebec diploma: 234 invitations.
Criteria varied by selection: Selection One required a Quebec diploma of at least 900 hours or 30 credits and a minimum score of 741; Selection Two required the main occupation to be on the priority occupations list and a minimum score of 627; Selection Three required a Quebec diploma (full criteria not fully disclosed in the source).
Maple News notes that, following the PEQ closure, the PSTQ is the principal route for skilled workers to settle in Quebec. As demand evolves, applicants with Quebec diplomas or those in priority occupations may find PSTQ draws particularly pivotal in the months ahead.
Maple News will continue to monitor MIFI announcements and provide guidance on eligibility, next steps, and how applicants can prepare for upcoming rounds.
