Quebec Holds Second Arrima Invitation Round Within a Week, Targets Key Tech and Engineering Roles

Maple News reports that the province of Quebec has issued 502 new invitations for permanent selection under the Regular Skilled Worker Program (PRTQ) through its Arrima platform. This marks the second invitation round in just one week, highlighting Quebec’s proactive approach to meeting its immigration and labor market needs.

On August 19, Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI) selected candidates who had previously submitted a Declaration of Interest (DI) via the Arrima portal. These candidates demonstrated profiles aligned with current provincial labor market demands and achieved a minimum score of 548. In addition to the qualifying score, invitees had to be working in one of the high-demand occupations prioritized by the government.

The targeted professions include a range of roles primarily within engineering, computer science, and digital media. Specifically, Quebec focused on occupations such as IT systems managers, electrical engineers, software developers, web developers, and data administrators. Creative roles like graphic designers and film producers were also included. This prioritization reflects Quebec’s ongoing need for tech talent and skilled professionals across diverse sectors.

This latest draw follows a historic invitation round held a week earlier, in which the province issued its highest number of invitations in 2021. With seven draws completed this year, a total of 1,562 candidates have now been invited to apply for permanent selection to Quebec.

Quebec operates its immigration programs autonomously from the federal government, using its own criteria and selection process. While Quebec handles the initial selection of candidates, the final decision on issuing permanent residency remains with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The Regular Skilled Worker Program is designed for individuals who have the relevant skills and experience to contribute economically to the province. It is particularly attractive to foreign professionals and international graduates looking to establish their careers and lives in Quebec.

Once invited, candidates must submit a complete application for permanent selection within six months, providing all necessary documents and forms to support their eligibility.

Maple News continues to monitor Quebec’s immigration rounds as the province fine-tunes its strategies to attract skilled talent in a competitive global market.
