Maple News reports that Prince Edward Island (PEI) conducted its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on July 15, inviting 127 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination. This draw aligns with PEI’s pre-scheduled immigration selection across multiple streams designed to support regional labour market needs.
Of the total invitations issued, 118 were extended to candidates under the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories—both key pathways for skilled workers who demonstrate strong potential to integrate into the province’s workforce. The remaining nine invitations went to applicants under the Business Impact category, a stream for entrepreneurs who scored at least 60 points on PEI’s selection system.
This marks PEI’s seventh PNP draw of the year. So far in 2021, the Maritime province has invited 1,032 candidates in total—934 through the Express Entry and Labour Impact streams and 98 through the Business Impact stream. These draws are an essential part of PEI’s immigration strategy, helping to attract talent that matches local economic priorities.
The PEI PNP operates under federally approved guidelines, allowing the province to nominate individuals who can fill gaps in its labour force or contribute as entrepreneurs. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are in a much stronger position to secure Canadian permanent residence.
The Express Entry-linked stream in PEI is classified as an enhanced PNP. It connects directly to Canada’s federal Express Entry system, which manages applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates must first create an Express Entry profile to be considered for nomination.
Once nominated, Express Entry candidates receive an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, effectively guaranteeing them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a future federal draw. This significantly speeds up the pathway to immigration for skilled candidates aligned with provincial needs.
Maple News has learned that the next PEI PNP draw is scheduled for August 19, as the province continues its monthly selection process to invite high-potential immigrants.
With consistent draws and program alignment with federal objectives, PEI remains a compelling destination for skilled immigrants and business-minded newcomers looking to establish themselves in Canada.
