Maple News reports that the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) will withdraw existing Expressions of Interest (EOIs) under three major Employer Job Offer streams on June 21 and 22, 2025. This move comes in preparation for the official launch of the new Employer Portal on July 2, signaling a significant transition toward an employer-led application model.
The withdrawal will affect EOIs submitted under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker, International Student, and In-Demand Skills streams. As of June 20, candidates can no longer submit new EOIs to any Employer Job Offer stream until the system reopens with the portal launch.
From June 27 to June 29, all OINP streams will temporarily go offline to accommodate the system upgrade. This brief shutdown will affect both new registrations and access to existing applications.
When the new Employer Portal goes live on July 2, employers will be required to initiate the application process by submitting position details directly online. Only after this step will applicants be able to submit or re-register their EOIs based on employer-provided information.
Replacing the previous paper-based system, the new digital portal is expected to streamline immigration processes, reduce processing times, and enhance communication between employers and OINP officers. Features include secure document uploads, digital tracking, auto-filled forms, and role-based access for employer representatives.
Affected candidates are advised to wait until their employers submit job postings through the new system before re-registering their EOIs. Updated EOIs will remain valid for 12 months and automatically considered for upcoming draws.
The OINP has issued a reminder encouraging both employers and applicants to prepare for this change and regularly monitor official program communications for new updates and technical guidance.
This marks a notable shift for Ontario’s immigration process, empowering employers to play a more active role in meeting labor market demands while ensuring the province continues to attract skilled global talent.
