Ontario Issues 703 Invitations to Express Entry Candidates in High-Demand Occupations

Maple News reports that the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued 703 invitations to Express Entry candidates on August 26, targeting those with work experience in selected high-demand occupations. This draw was conducted under the Human Capital Priorities Stream, which aligns with the federal Express Entry system.

Eligible candidates required a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 466 and 475 to qualify. Once nominated by Ontario, candidates receive an automatic 600-point boost to their CRS score, effectively positioning them for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency in upcoming Express Entry draws.

To be considered for a nomination, candidates must have at least one year of continuous full-time work experience—or equivalent part-time experience—within the last five years in one of the following National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes:
– NOC 0111: Financial Managers
– NOC 0124: Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations Managers
– NOC 0601: Corporate Sales Managers
– NOC 1111: Financial Auditors and Accountants
– NOC 1114: Other Financial Officers
– NOC 1122: Professional Occupations in Business Management Consulting
– NOC 3012: Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses
– NOC 3124: Allied Primary Health Practitioners
– NOC 3132: Dietitians and Nutritionists

Candidates must list the same primary occupation in both their Express Entry profile and their OINP application. The required job experience can be Canadian or international but must be continuous. Holding back-to-back positions with different employers is acceptable, provided the job duties remain consistent within the specified occupation.

Express Entry is Canada’s primary application management system for three key immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Candidates are ranked based on various human capital factors including work experience, education, age, and language proficiency in English or French.

Ontario leverages the Express Entry pool to identify qualified candidates through the Human Capital Priorities Stream. For 2023, the federal government has allocated Ontario 7,600 nomination spaces, including 250 spots for candidates in intermediate-skilled occupations (NOC skill level C).

With the labour market in constant demand for skilled professionals, provincial draws like this provide crucial opportunities for international talent to gain permanent residency and support economic growth in Ontario. Maple News will continue to monitor new developments in Canada’s Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs.
