Ontario Issues 1,828 ITAs in April 8 OINP Draws, Emphasizing Healthcare, Francophone, and Regional Talent

Maple News reports that the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held four draws on April 8, 2026, issuing 1,828 invitations to apply (ITAs) to candidates across the healthcare, Francophone, physician, and regional streams. The invitations were drawn from the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker (FW), International Student (IS), and In-Demand Skills (IDS) streams. To be invited, candidates had to declare they currently reside in Canada with a valid work or study permit.

Eligible profiles had to be created and attested (with a job offer from an eligible employer) by April 6, 2026, 11:59 p.m., and supported by a qualifying job offer. This is Ontario’s sixth invitation round in 2026, following rounds on February 2, February 18, March 18, March 25, and April 1.

Draw details show four streams across four draws, with the healthcare and early childhood education draw accounting for the majority of invitations: 1,635 ITAs were issued to candidates with job offers in nursing, healthcare support, and early childhood education roles. The minimum score for the Foreign Worker stream fell to 20 (down from 36 on February 2), while the International Student minimum decreased to 46 (from 56). The In-Demand Skills minimum is not listed for this segment.

Francophone candidates accounted for 146 ITAs across FW, IS, and IDS, with minimum scores of 35 for FW, 63 for IS, and 25 for IDS. The REDI pilot, covering Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, yielded 32 ITAs (FW 46, IS 57, IDS 33). Physicians accounted for 15 ITAs under the Foreign Worker stream, with a minimum score of 43.

In total, 1,828 ITAs were issued under these rounds. Ontario continues to focus on addressing healthcare staffing gaps and regional workforce needs, signaling a broader effort to attract skilled workers to high-demand sectors and rural communities.

Maple News will continue to monitor Ontario’s immigration activity as the province seeks to fill critical shortages across its healthcare system and regions.
