Maple News reports that Ontario conducted a new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on June 16, issuing invitations to 940 candidates through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The draw targeted foreign workers and international students who submitted profiles to Ontario’s recently launched Expression of Interest (EOI) system—designed to streamline the selection process for provincial nominations.
Of the total candidates invited, 569 were eligible under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream. These individuals required a minimum EOI score of 38 points to receive an invitation. There were no occupation-specific or regional preferences for this draw, making it inclusive for skilled workers across various sectors.
The remaining 371 invitations were issued to candidates under the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream. These applicants were required to have a minimum EOI score of 66. This stream supports recent international graduates who have job offers from Ontario employers and are seeking permanent residency in the province.
Both streams fall under the Employer Job Offer category, enabling foreign nationals to apply for permanent residence if they have a valid job offer from an Ontario-based employer. Applicants are not restricted to applying from within Canada, provided they meet all eligibility criteria.
To qualify for the Foreign Worker stream, candidates must have at least two years of work experience in a skilled occupation, a full-time job offer in Ontario, and a clear intention to reside in the province. The International Student stream, on the other hand, is intended for recent graduates of eligible Canadian institutions who also hold a valid job offer in Ontario.
Applicants begin the process by registering an Expression of Interest with the OINP. Once submitted, profiles are scored based on multiple selection factors including education, work experience, and job offer specifics. Ontario then conducts periodic draws, inviting top-ranking individuals to apply for provincial nomination—a key step toward Canadian permanent residency.
This EOI-based selection method gives the province greater flexibility in inviting candidates who best meet its evolving labor market needs, while offering foreign workers and international students an efficient pathway to settle in Ontario.
Maple News will continue monitoring and reporting on upcoming OINP draws and other immigration developments across Canada.
