Ontario, B.C., and Manitoba Extend Fresh Invitations Through PNP Streams

Maple News reports that three Canadian provinces—Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba—have issued new invitations to candidates through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) this week. These latest draws reaffirm Canada’s commitment to regionalized immigration that fuels economic growth and addresses labor market needs across the provinces.

Launched in 1998, the PNP was designed to distribute the economic benefits of immigration more evenly across Canada, moving beyond the traditional draw of metro hubs like Toronto and Vancouver. Through various streams tailored to specific skills, employment offers, or academic backgrounds, the program enables provinces to directly nominate candidates for Canadian permanent residency.

In the latest round of selections held between April 20 and 26, Ontario’s Immigrant Nominee Program extended Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to 209 candidates under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream. All candidates had a minimum score of 53 and came from skilled trades occupations. This event marks Ontario’s first such targeted draw for skilled trades since early January, when 630 candidates were invited.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) conducted a modest draw on April 23, issuing over 86 invitations. Candidates were selected from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, including those aligned with the Express Entry BC category. While smaller in scale, these invitations reflect B.C.’s ongoing focus on attracting qualified professionals who can contribute to the province’s fast-growing sectors.

Although details from Manitoba’s draw were not disclosed in the original summary, the province’s continued participation aligns with the broader PNP strategy aimed at enhancing regional workforce stability and promoting sustainable population growth in mid-sized communities.

Canada’s PNP landscape is diverse, with nearly every province and territory (excluding Quebec and Nunavut) administering its own nomination streams. These programs often target international students, skilled workers, and professionals in in-demand occupations, offering a vital fast-tracked route to permanent residence.

Maple News will continue to monitor and report on future PNP draws and policy changes affecting Canada’s immigration landscape. For those considering a move to Canada through economic immigration pathways, staying informed on provincial nomination activities offers a strategic edge in the application process.
