Maple News reports that North Bay, a city in Northeastern Ontario, has officially released its latest list of designated employers for the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP), offering new permanent residence opportunities for skilled foreign workers. This release marks an important step in the city’s ongoing efforts to attract global talent and support economic development in the region.
Under the RNIP, foreign nationals who receive a job offer from one of North Bay’s designated employers may be eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residence. The program is particularly targeted toward strengthening smaller, rural communities and is one of 14 community-driven pilots launched across Canada.
North Bay’s pilot covers a wide area, including the Nipissing District, Parry Sound District, and the Town of Latchford. Employers from a range of sectors—such as healthcare, skilled trades, business, and social services—have been approved to participate in the program.
Among the designated employers are Algonquin Nursing Home, Designed Roofing Inc., Community Living North Bay, and ParaMed Home Health Care. The focus sectors include Health, Trades and Transportation, Sales and Service, and Business Administration. This range reflects the city’s diverse labor market needs and its aim to attract qualified professionals in high-demand occupational areas.
To be eligible, candidates must secure a job offer in one of North Bay’s designated priority occupations, meet federal criteria for education, language proficiency, and work experience, and demonstrate adequate settlement funds.
The RNIP is employer-driven, meaning applicants must secure employment in advance from a participating business. The list of designated employers is expected to grow as additional organizations are approved, offering even more pathways for immigration.
North Bay’s involvement in the RNIP represents a strategic move to boost regional growth, address labor shortages, and diversify the local workforce. It also offers foreign workers and their families the chance to build a life in a welcoming community with competitive job opportunities.
Maple News will continue to monitor developments and share updates as more employers are added and the program evolves.
