Newfoundland and Labrador Invites Over 350 Candidates in Latest Immigration Draw

Maple News reports that the province of Newfoundland and Labrador has issued 353 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in its ninth immigration draw of 2025, continuing its active efforts to attract skilled newcomers. The draw, which took place on September 12, welcomed candidates through two key regional pathways: the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

Of the total invitations, 218 were issued under the NLPNP and 135 through the AIP. Notably, this marks the highest number of AIP-specific invitations extended in a single round by the province this year — a sign of Newfoundland and Labrador’s growing commitment to the Atlantic Immigration Program as a strategic tool to address regional labor shortages and population growth.

With this round, the province has now issued a cumulative total of 2,018 ITAs through the NLPNP and 586 through the AIP in 2025, bringing the total invitations across both streams to 2,604 so far this year.

The province has been steadily increasing its engagement in immigration throughout 2025, holding regular draws to meet local labor market needs, particularly in essential sectors such as healthcare, tech, and skilled trades. Past draws this year have seen ITAs ranging from 150 to over 400 per round, with corresponding allocations between the NLPNP and AIP.

Here’s a look at Newfoundland and Labrador’s recent draw trends:
– On May 29, 2025, the province invited 405 candidates (351 NLPNP, 54 AIP).
– On July 10, 2025, a total of 359 candidates were selected (300 NLPNP, 59 AIP).
– The August 29 draw saw 202 invitations issued (125 NLPNP, 77 AIP).

In a promising development earlier this year, Newfoundland and Labrador successfully negotiated with the federal government to double its nomination allocation for 2025. Originally capped at 1,050 nominations, the new allocation stands at 2,050 — reflecting growing national support for provincial immigration initiatives.

As the province continues to strengthen its role in Canada’s immigration landscape, these sustained invitation rounds underscore Newfoundland and Labrador’s vision to attract global talent and address key demographic challenges.

Applicants who receive an invitation may now proceed to submit their full application to the relevant provincial stream. Those selected under AIP must also have a valid job offer from a designated employer and meet other program-specific requirements.

For prospective immigrants aiming to settle in Atlantic Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador’s evolving programs offer a promising pathway for permanent residency in 2025 and beyond.
