Maple News reports that Newfoundland and Labrador has issued a total of 381 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through two recent immigration draws under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
The first draw took place on July 29, 2025, resulting in 150 ITAs—100 through the NLPNP and 50 via the AIP. A second, larger round followed on August 13, 2025, with 231 ITAs distributed—180 under the NLPNP and 51 through the AIP.
These draws are part of Newfoundland and Labrador’s ongoing strategy to attract skilled talent needed to meet growing labour demands across industries such as healthcare, technology, and ocean sciences. With persistent labour shortages and a demographic need for population growth, the province remains committed to integrating qualified newcomers into its workforce and communities.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) empowers the province to nominate individuals who have the skills, education, and work experience required to contribute to the local economy. The program’s key categories include Express Entry Skilled Worker, Skilled Worker, International Graduate, International Graduate Entrepreneur, and International Entrepreneur streams.
Meanwhile, the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a federal-provincial initiative designed to support economic development across the four Atlantic provinces by helping employers hire foreign talent. Candidates benefit from an expedited path to permanent residence if they receive a valid job offer from a designated employer in the region.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s immigration efforts align with its population growth strategy, which aims to strengthen the province’s economic resilience by tapping into global talent pools. The regular issuance of ITAs reflects a clear provincial intent to remain proactive and responsive to labour market needs.
As of 2025, the province has conducted multiple draws, each demonstrating strong momentum in welcoming newcomers. Earlier this year, over 400 invitations were also issued in separate rounds, highlighting consistent progress in reaching immigration targets.
According to Maple News, these initiatives reaffirm Newfoundland and Labrador’s role as a dynamic job market in Canada’s Atlantic region and a promising destination for skilled immigrants pursuing long-term settlement and opportunity.
