Manitoba Targets Skilled Overseas Talent in Latest Immigration Draw

Maple News reports that the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has issued new invitations to skilled foreign workers as part of its ongoing effort to attract talent aligned with provincial labor market needs.

In a draw held on June 12, 2024, the MPNP issued 36 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) under its Skilled Worker Overseas stream. This draw focused exclusively on candidates who had been directly invited through Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Out of the 36 selected candidates, five had valid Express Entry profile numbers and job seeker validation codes, signaling that they also qualify for the federal Express Entry pool. Such dual eligibility can accelerate the path to permanent residence for these individuals.

The lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)-like score among the invited candidates was 613, demonstrating the competitiveness of this draw. Candidates who received an invitation will now have the opportunity to formally apply for provincial nomination, which significantly boosts their chances of acquiring permanent residency in Canada.

Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiative plays a crucial role in meeting employer demands in sectors where local talent is scarce. Through this program, approved employers can identify skilled foreign professionals and submit their profiles to the province for consideration.

To participate in the initiative, employers must meet specific recruitment standards and follow Manitoba’s ABC Recruitment Process. In turn, selected candidates must fulfill eligibility requirements, including language ability, education, work experience, and alignment with Manitoba’s labor needs.

Through targeted immigration pathways like the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, Manitoba continues to support economic growth and address workforce gaps by welcoming skilled individuals from around the world.

Maple News will continue to monitor provincial immigration draws and provide timely updates for prospective newcomers aiming to build their futures in Canada.
